The leader of PAN-BOL, Ruth Nina is at the center of a national controversy after threatening the TSE by stating that in the upcoming elections votes won't be counted, but rather the dead. These statements, made during an event in Chapare, caused rejection from various political and social sectors.
Congresswoman Luisa Nayar filed a formal complaint against Nina for public incitement to commit a crime. Additionally, she accused the former PAN-Bol leader of promoting hatred and attacking the democratic order. Nayar requested that the Public Prosecutor's Office and the TSE act immediately.
The most tense verbal exchange occurred between Nina and Agustín Zambrana, from the Pro Santa Cruz Committee. Zambrana demanded that she turn herself in and said that she would be prosecuted by law. Nina replied with insults and called him a "failed politician."
In her words, Nina asserted that she is not afraid and that she represents social sectors willing to die for their cause. The exchange went viral and increased pressure on the authorities.

From the government, Minister Roberto Ríos identified three crimes committed by Nina. He mentioned public incitement to commit a crime, electoral offenses, and terrorism. Ríos requested that the Public Prosecutor's Office and the TSE act in a coordinated manner.
He also stated that these threats can't be tolerated in a democratic state. He warned that a precedent must be set to prevent future threats.
Political organizations such as Comunidad Ciudadana and Súmate also spoke out. Congressman Alberto Astorga called Nina a "Evo's accomplice" and demanded her immediate arrest.
According to Astorga, the threats aim to destabilize the elections. Meanwhile, Súmate requested that the Prosecutor's Office act ex officio. Ernesto Giraldes considered that Nina should have been detained days ago.
Board member Gustavo Ávila, from the TSE, also reacted to the threats. He reaffirmed that the electoral process remains intact. He asked the competent authorities to follow up on this case.
He also assured that the vote is guaranteed and that on August 17 the polls will open as usual. The TSE rejected any attempt to instill fear in the population.
She reaffirmed her threat and challenged the justice system
Nina afirmó que no se retracta de sus palabras
In an interview, Nina stated that she doesn't retract her words. She said that her message reflects the sentiment of social organizations. According to her, her statements were misinterpreted for political purposes.
She also assured that she only wanted to express that the people are willing to fight for their rights. She questioned why her rural bases have not been heard by the state.
Nina also reported that the TCP overturned an injunction that allowed her to participate in the elections. PAN-Bol was eliminated for not reaching 3% in the previous elections. The former leader questioned the annulment of her legal status.
She also pointed out that this event motivated the indignation of her followers. She indicated that her alliance with Evo Morales seeks to restore their political rights.
In response to criticism, Nina said that she is willing to go to jail if that means defending the people. She assured that she would do so with honor and without fear. She considered that her imprisonment could benefit her adversaries.
Subsequently, Nina challenged her political detractors to "take a chance" with her arrest. She said that her cause has support from indigenous bases.

Attorney Otto Ritter, who accompanied Nayar, explained the legal grounds for the complaint. He stated that Nina violated Article 238 of the Electoral Regime Law. This article punishes coercion and obstruction of the electoral process.
Ritter warned that if action is not taken now, it will open the door to more violence. He demanded that the law be applied firmly.
The Ministry of Government reiterated its concern about the escalation of rhetoric caused by figures like Nina. They recalled that the country needs peace and certainty on the electoral path. The use of violent discourse could trigger unnecessary conflicts.
Deputy Minister Gabriela Alcón called on all political actors to reflect. She said that the government doesn't support that type of threat.
Civic leaders from Santa Cruz demanded that Nina turn herself in to the justice system. They considered that her speech constitutes electoral terrorism.
They also warned that these statements can have irreparable consequences. They insisted that the justice system must act without delay.
