The government of Daniel Noboa began the curfew in Guayas, Santo Domingo, Los Ríos and Esmeraldas from March 15 at 23:00. During the first night, 253 people were arrested for violating the night restriction

In Zone 8, which includes Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón, 112 apprehensions were recorded. The majority, 109, were for violating the curfew, while the rest were for drugs and illegal carrying of weapons

Security forces also detained 22 vehicles and 29 motorcycles. Eleven bladed weapons were seized and an individual considered to be of relevant criminal interest was arrested

A total of 75,000 police and military personnel participated in the operations, supported by caravans of armored trucks, motorcycles and helicopters.
The deployment sought to ensure compliance with the restriction and reduce high-impact crimes in the provinces and cantons most affected by crime. Among the individual cases, five people were arrested for organizing a “pool” in Durán during the early morning hours.
The curfew will be maintained until March 31, between 23:00 and 05:00. The measure is part of the actions of the Daniel Noboa government to confront organized crime and strengthen citizen security
