President Daniel Noboa begins his 2025-2029 term after defeating the Citizen Revolution by a wide margin
On the morning of Thursday, May 15, 2025, the National Electoral Council presented credentials to Daniel Noboa and María José Pinto as elected president and vice president. The ceremony took place at the Crystal Palace in Itchimbía Park, in the center of Quito.
With this ceremony, the mandate of the head of state was made official, extending until 2029, following his decisive victory in the second electoral round. Noboa obtained 5.87 million votes, 55.63% of the total, surpassing Luisa González, the correísmo candidate, by more than a million votes.
The president arrived at the venue accompanied by the CNE president, Diana Atamaint, and was received with honors by the Granaderos de Tarqui. This protocol gesture reaffirmed the democratic institutionality and the popular support achieved at the polls.
The correísmo's claims, alleging supposed electoral fraud, were dismissed by the Electoral Dispute Tribunal. More than 15,000 contested records failed to alter the results, and international observers such as the OAS and the EU ruled out any irregularities.
Noboa's victory represents a change of course from the years of instability caused by previous governments. His administration, which temporarily assumed power in 2023 after the cross-death, now projects with a full mandate focused on security, employment, and growth.
The presentation of credentials to the Noboa-Pinto duo marks a milestone for Ecuadorian democracy. The popular support, institutional legitimacy, and international rejection of the unfounded accusations of correísmo consolidate Daniel Noboa's leadership as a serious and modern alternative to the populism of the past.
