Control over assembly members for absences will be electronic and transparent
Starting June 1, absences, delays, and faults in the Legislative Plenary will be recorded digitally
Starting June 1, 2025, the National Assembly will implement an electronic system to record legislators' absences, non-attendance, and delays. This mechanism will operate from the digital seats located in the "Nela Martínez" Hall.
In addition to internal control, the information will be published on the official website of the Assembly, which will allow citizens to access this data directly. This measure aims to strengthen institutional transparency and accountability.
The provision is based on item 3 of article 20 of the Organic Law of the Legislative Function (LOFL), which requires the Secretary General to keep this record and make it public. This way, a legal requirement is fulfilled with technical support.

The initiative also aims to improve the efficiency of legislative work, amid citizens' complaints about the Assembly's low productivity. The systematized data will be a tool to evaluate the performance of each caucus and legislator.
This change represents a necessary step to professionalize parliamentary management, in a context in which a large part of the citizenry demands greater political responsibility. Open access to this information will serve as an incentive to correct harmful practices within the chamber.
With this decision, the National Assembly moves toward greater citizen oversight and more rigorous institutional control. The use of technology to make legislative work visible can make a positive difference in public trust.
