Daniel Salcedo collaborates with the Prosecutor's Office and reveals possible irregularities

Salcedo confirms data on corruption in healthcare and collaborates with the Prosecutor's Office and the National Assembly

On July 25, Daniel Salcedo appeared before the Prosecutor's Office in Quito to give his statement in two confidential investigations. His attorney, Renato Montero, stated that the testimony focused on cases of corruption in the public hospital system and the leak of classified information.

Salcedo attended as a third party with knowledge of the facts, providing information already previously mentioned before the Assembly's Oversight Commission. According to Montero, his client seeks to actively cooperate with the justice system.

Regarding the health system, Montero explained that Salcedo did not refer to a specific hospital, but to alleged widespread corruption practices. Although a possible loss of up to $1.6 billion was discussed, Salcedo is not being prosecuted; he only provided his testimony.

In a second proceeding, Salcedo referred to a case related to the dissemination of confidential information, in which journalist Andersson Boscán would be involved. Montero indicated that his client is not a party to the proceedings, but was summoned for his knowledge of the context.

Salcedo's cooperation comes amid sensitive investigations that could provide key evidence in cases affecting the public system. The testimony, according to his defense, seeks to strengthen institutions at a time when the country is committed to transparency.

The attorney emphasized that Salcedo is complying with formal requests from both the Prosecutor's Office and the Assembly. He reiterated his willingness to provide information to oversight bodies and the public.

That same day, his brother Noé Salcedo and Assembly member Santiago Díaz Asque also appeared before the Prosecutor's Office. Although it has not been confirmed whether the cases are related, the day marked a milestone in the institutional cleansing process promoted by the National Government.

The coordinated action between the Prosecutor's Office and the Assembly demonstrates that the State prioritizes a direct fight against corruption, with support from actors who today choose to cooperate instead of evading justice.
