Elected assembly member Annabella Azín, mother of Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, called on citizens this Sunday to defend democracy and prevent Ecuador from following the path of "a failed Venezuela, Nicaragua, or Bolivia." During her tour of the Azuay province, Azín recalled her long political career since 1998, highlighting her commitment to bringing health and hope to Ecuadorian communities.
Azín emphasized that the country is at a "crucial historical moment" and stressed the importance of maintaining economic stability, with an emphasis on dollarization. "It depends on our fight in these last 15 days," she stated, referring to the electoral campaign and the reelection of her son, Daniel Noboa, who is seeking a second term. She also called on her supporters to intensify the campaign in the days leading up to the runoff, which will be held on April 13.
As part of her tour, Azín visited Gualaceo, where, through the Cruzada Nueva Humanidad Foundation, she provided medical care and medication to hundreds of people, mainly the elderly. She also engaged with entrepreneurs in the Cuenca markets, reaffirming her commitment to the well-being of rural communities. In her speech, she highlighted the efforts of Noboa's government to combat criminal gangs that have affected the country's security.
