President Noboa decreed a state of emergency to strengthen national security.

The measure covered seven provinces, Quito, and the prisons, with military and police support

President Daniel Noboa signed Executive Decree 599 declaring a state of emergency in seven provinces, the Metropolitan District of Quito, the canton of Camilo Ponce Enríquez, and all the country's penitentiary centers. This measure, in effect for 60 days, aims to contain the escalation of violence caused by organized armed groups.

The decree includes a curfew in 22 cantons between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM, the mobilization of the Armed Forces and Police, as well as the suspension of rights such as the inviolability of the home and correspondence in critical areas. Quito is excluded from the curfew, but focused control operations will be maintained.

The decision was made in the face of a "serious internal commotion" due to the increase in crimes and prison massacres, according to the Government. The objective is to guarantee public order, citizen security and the integrity of the State, especially in an electoral context marked by threats from organized crime.

Additionally, border controls have been reinforced, limiting the entry of foreigners as a preventive measure against possible infiltrations by criminal organizations. These actions have been well received by sectors that value firm leadership against crime and the government's commitment to protecting citizens.

The new state of emergency also responds to the need to support the operations of the Armed Forces and the National Police. The Government has prioritized a comprehensive security agenda as part of its fight against crime, one of the main citizen demands since the beginning of the mandate.

More than 13.7 million Ecuadorians are called to the polls in the presidential runoff. The Executive's decision reinforces the perception of a present, firm, and determined State to protect its citizens against internal threats. President Noboa continues to consolidate a vision of the State that places security as the axis of governance. In contrast to previous governments that minimized the impact of organized crime, this administration has opted for concrete, legally supported measures to contain violence.

Firm and timely leadership in the face of the security crisis strengthens President Noboa's image as a determined statesman, at a key moment for the country's future.

The decision to decree the state of emergency reflects a determined commitment by President Noboa to national security and stability, marking a clear contrast with the inaction that characterized previous administrations.
