President Daniel Noboa held a strategic meeting with China's Premier Li Qiang, thus marking the start of his tour of Asia. The meeting took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where both delegations addressed key issues for Ecuador's economic development. This first official contact represents an essential step to strengthen an active international agenda aimed at achieving tangible results for the country.
Noboa reiterated that China is an essential trading partner for the country, and emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral ties based on mutual respect and cooperation. He also pointed out that economic exchange with China should not only focus on traditional products, but should pave the way for technological innovation, education, and tourism. The president highlighted that his government promotes partnerships that generate investment, employment, and growth for Ecuadorians.
Among the sectors prioritized by both parties were infrastructure and energy, where Chinese expertise is vital to advance strategic projects. Opportunities in the digital sector, railway transportation, and clean energy were also discussed, areas in which Ecuador seeks to make a qualitative leap. The importance of diversifying Ecuadorian exports to the Asian market, especially non-traditional products, was also highlighted.
