The Government activated maximum alert due to threats against President Daniel Noboa.
The Government reported that criminal structures seek to destabilize the country with violence and terror
The Ecuadorian Government confirmed it is on high alert following the release of a report from the Joint Command of the Armed Forces warning of possible attacks against President Daniel Noboa. According to the information, criminal groups are reportedly moving hitmen from Mexico and other nations with the aim of executing terrorist acts.
The Ministry of Government issued an official statement in the early hours of April 19, in which it condemned any attempt to attack the life of the president and his ministers, in addition to warning about actions aimed at creating chaos in the streets. The entity condemned that "criminal structures, in complicity with political sectors defeated at the polls," intend to sow terror.
In addition to the attacks against the president, attacks on critical infrastructure such as bridges, banks, and state institutions are reportedly being planned. According to the internal circular, there are also attempts to provoke violent protests with destabilizing purposes, which has raised alarms in national security agencies.
Minister José de la Gasca confirmed the authenticity of the document and assured that all institutions are acting in a coordinated manner. The Armed Forces, the National Police, and intelligence services have strengthened protection measures to prevent any violent action in Ecuadorian territory.

The State has activated all its defense protocols and doesn't rule out taking firm actions against any threat that undermines democracy and institutional order. Meanwhile, President Noboa is in Miami for personal matters and is expected to return on April 22.
In its statement, the Ministry of Government insisted that the recent destabilization attempts "not only seek to affect the Government but also undermine the peace and sovereignty of the country." The Executive has replied with determination, showing its commitment to order and security.
Daniel Noboa's administration has received national and international support for its firm stance against organized crime. While sectors linked to failed models insist on confrontation, the Government acts with responsibility and a vision for the future.
The Government's swift response to the threats demonstrates a clear will to protect the country's institutional framework. In a regional context marked by violence and instability, the Noboa administration is emerging as a bastion of defense for the rule of law and citizen well-being.
