The Democratic Party militant accused of opening fire at the Hilton Hotel in Washington while the White House Correspondents Association Dinner was taking place on Saturday night has been formally charged with attempted assassination against President Donald Trump.
The Justice Department filed charges Monday against Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old California professor and donor to the campaign of former Vice President Kamala Harris. At the hearing, the defendant “was calm and answered in a low voice to the judge's questions, who warned him that he faces a possible life sentence if convicted,” according to journalists who were in court.
The shooter managed to injure a member of the Secret Service during his attack, who was shot in the chest, but fortunately he was wearing a bulletproof vest. Trump later confirmed that the member of his security team was in good health.

Allen's manifesto
In his manifesto, which was sent to his family, Allen made it clear that his target was both Trump and the members of his cabinet. “Administration officials (with the exception of Mr. Patel): they are objective, prioritized from the highest to the lowest rank,” says the attacker
