The president Donald Trump promised to protect Elon Musk and does not rule out issuing preemptive pardons if the Democrats win the midterm elections and move against the South African entrepreneur's empire.
Although the president dismissed the Democrats' threats against Musk, he did not miss the opportunity to make it clear that he would intervene if the situation escalates. "It’s not going to happen. They are just words. But if they stop being just words, we will have to protect him," Trump stated.
Trump also stated that he would consider preemptive pardons for officials and allies of his administration if the Democrats attempt to pursue them legally after he leaves office in January 2029. These statements come after the American left threatened to expropriate Musk's companies, Tesla -SpaceX, Starlink, and the artificial intelligence giant xAI-.
