After fighting a long illness, the former director of the FBI and former special prosecutor died in the last few hours.

Mueller was a controversial figure in recent American politics, especially because of his role as special prosecutor in the pathetic investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential elections, in which President Donald Trump was elected to hold his first term in office.

During his first term, Trump was accused by Mueller of being involved in alleged Russian interference in the 2016 elections

Appointed to lead the investigation, Mueller led a ridiculous investigation that lasted almost two years and marked much of Trump's first term. The final report, published in 2019, concluded that Russia tried to influence the electoral process, mainly through social networks, with the intention of favoring the then Republican candidate
