The Government of Donald Trump has maintained for months a refugee admission policy focused exclusively on white people, according to official data published by the Population Office of the U.S. Department of State.
The most recent figures indicate that, during the last month, the 599 refugees admitted by the country were all white South Africans, known as "Afrikaners". This trend is not an isolated fact, but is consistently repeated throughout the current fiscal year.
Since October 1, 2025, the United States has accepted a total of 6,668 refugees. Of that number, 6,665 correspond to white South Africans, confirming the continuity of this pattern in the resettlement program.
White refugees accepted by Trump
The data is supported by the U.S. Refugee Admission Program, a federal initiative that coordinates work between public agencies and private organizations to manage the arrival of these refugees.
This scheme is part of a broader modification of immigration policy driven by the Donald Trump administration. In October, the government announced a significant reduction in the annual refugee cap, setting it at 7,500 people, a figure significantly lower than the historical levels of the country.
In comparison, during the fiscal years between 2022 and 2024, under the Democratic administration of Joe Biden, the annual admission limit for refugees was set at 125,000 people, although in reality that number was much higher due to the illegal entry of immigrants across the border with Mexico.
A presidential memorandum issued in September defined the new selection criteria, stating that the accepted refugees "would primarily be Afrikaners from South Africa".
White farmers murdered in South Africa
The U.S. administration explained that Afrikaners, an ethnic group in South Africa primarily descended from European settlers, are victims of a white genocide in South Africa, facing mass killings and land expropriation processes for racial reasons.
In line with this stance, in May the government decided to increase by 10,000 the number of white South Africans it plans to admit, raising the total expected to 17,500 people.
The South African political context supports the Trump Government's position. For example, the party known as "Economic Freedom Fighters" became known for singing the song "Dubul' ibhunu", which translates to "Shoot the Boer" or "Kill the Boer".
The term Boer refers to the Afrikaners, the white minority descended from Dutch settlers in South Africa, demonstrating the enormous racism and persecution against whites.
