A total of 260 members and associates of the criminal gang Tren de Aragua have been charged by prosecutors from the Department of Justice (in Spanish, DOJ) since President Donald Trump returned to the White House at the end of January last year, government officials revealed to Breitbart this week.
This Monday, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche charged 25 members and associates of the Venezuelan criminal organization Tren de Aragua with drug and weapons trafficking offenses. Many of those arrested are undocumented individuals who arrived in the United States under the protection of the Joe Biden administration.
"In just a few days, the Department of Justice and its partners from the Vulcan Joint Task Force carried out a nationwide dismantling of the vicious terrorist networks of Tren de Aragua: depraved and violent criminals who have illegally invaded our country and preyed upon American communities," said Blanche regarding this operation, which became one of the most significant of the Trump Administration.

The statement from the Justice Department reports that, in the state of Colorado, two Venezuelan citizens who illegally entered the United States under Biden's administration were arrested and charged with arms and drug trafficking, with 12 firearms and illegal substances seized during the arrest.
In Florida, a criminal complaint was filed against three illegal immigrants with alleged ties to Tren de Aragua for conspiracy to possess controlled substances with the intent to distribute them, and two firearms and multiple illegal substances were seized.
Meanwhile, in Tennessee and other states, five defendants belonging to Tren de Aragua were charged with drug trafficking, revealing that three of these detainees had participated in shootings that occurred in the city of Nashville in 2023 and 2024.
The border immigration policy implemented by Biden of "catch and release" ensured that hundreds of members of Tren de Aragua were released within the U.S. The Department of Homeland Security (in Spanish, DHS) estimated in October 2024 that more than 600 gang members were living in the country, although experts indicate that the number could be higher.
