The President of the United States, Donald Trump, completely dismissed on Sunday afternoon the proposal presented by the Islamic Regime of Iran, indicating a possible and ongoing stalemate in negotiations to end the war.
"I just read the response from the so-called 'Representatives' of Iran. I don't like it, TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!", were the words Trump used in a post shared on his social media platform Truth Social. The proposal from Tehran, which was delivered through Pakistani mediators, did not address Washington's central demand regarding the nuclear program and its uranium reserves held by the regime.
This week, the mediators focused on achieving a starting point between the two parties that would lead to broader discussions centered on Iran's nuclear program and potential relief from sanctions. However, the deep mistrust on both sides has left the process in a fragile state, increasing the risks in case diplomacy fails.
Trump rejected the proposal from the Iranian regime and is considering resuming military action against Tehran.
Are bombings returning?
Trump had already warned that if negotiations with Iran collapse, bombings against regime targets could resume. The new military campaign would begin, according to analysts, with attacks on missile systems, naval assets, and command networks before moving on to the country's energy infrastructure and key economic assets.
Any escalation ordered by Trump would likely unfold in phases aimed at dismantling the remaining military capability of the regime that has not been destroyed. The possible new war plan was evident on Thursday when a senior White House official confirmed that U.S. forces attacked ports located near the Strait of Hormuz while awaiting a response from the Iranian regime to the proposal presented by Washington.
This attack occurred two days after Iran launched missile attacks on the port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates. Although Washington explained that the attack was considered low-level, Tehran's action was met with fury by U.S. allies in the Gulf.
