The President of the United States, Donald Trump, spoke this Tuesday before the United Nations General Assembly in New York and addressed various issues of international politics, with special emphasis on the conflict with Iran, the situation in Cuba and Mexico, and the development of artificial intelligence.
Trump began his speech with a defense of the United States and his administration. "America is back", he stated, before asserting that the country "is stronger than ever".
In this regard, he claimed that the world is being driven by "the wealth, strength, spirit, and dynamism of a revitalized and very powerful United States of America".
He also highlighted U.S. military spending and stated that over the past 12 months his country has invested more money in its Armed Forces than in any other period. According to Trump, during his administration that figure will reach $1.5 trillion.

Trump questioned the Cuban regime
One of the highlights of his speech was related to Cuba. The U.S. president stated that his administration seeks a "fundamental change in the situation" on the island and criticized the Cuban communist regime.
"It is an absolutely failed state. It is failing like never before and it will fall", Trump declared, adding: "Communism will never reach the United States, but freedom will come to Cuba", he added.
The conflict with Iran
Trump also dedicated a significant part of his speech to Iran. He reiterated that "Iran will not have a nuclear weapon" and raised the possibility of reaching an agreement with Tehran after the November elections.
"Will there be an agreement with Iran that allows them to rebuild and create a country much better than it was before, or do I annihilate the Islamic Republic?", he posed.
"Do I send them to hell with no chance of survival?", he continued. "But I believe we will reach a fair agreement right after the elections, because it would make no sense not to do so", he asserted.
Trump also maintained that Iran was waiting to know the results of the midterm elections. "What they don't realize is that I am not running for reelection", he stated.

Mexico and artificial intelligence
In another part of his speech, Trump referred to Mexico and the activities of narcoterrorist groups. "Mexico is the epicenter of cartel violence, unfortunately. It is unacceptable for the U.S. to share a 2,000-mile border with territory controlled by enemy cartels. Mexico must regain control of its territory from the enemies of humanity", he said.
The president added that "security will come to Mexico" and emphasized that he maintains "a good relationship" with the Mexican government.
Finally, Trump addressed artificial intelligence, a sector he has defended along with the expansion of data centers. "Robots will not take control. AI will not take over the rest of the world. All of this is a farce", he had previously stated when referring to warnings about the risks of this technology.
In parallel, he asserted that "whoever wins the AI race, wins" and that imposing regulations or slowing down the advancement of sophisticated language models would only serve to give China a strategic advantage.
