The president Donald Trump suggested on Wednesday to rename the Strait of Hormuz as the "Trump Strait" since the United States has taken control of this waterway during the war with Iran and has cleared it of explosive mines.
"Now that we have it under U.S. control, should we change the name of the Strait of Hormuz to TRUMP STRAIT?", the president asked on social media. "Like America itself, it would be 'hotter' than ever! Thank you for your attention to this matter," he added.
When the war began on February 28, the Iranian terrorist regime effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz and began attacking commercial vessels passing through this passage. Nearly 20 million barrels of crude oil and refined products passed through Hormuz, which accounted for about one-fifth of the world's oil consumption.

But Trump has managed to take control of the strait from the Islamic theocracy and, with the support and escort of the U.S. military, tankers are passing through this oil route sailing further south and with their automatic identification systems turned off, a scenario that eased pressure on fuel prices and inflation despite Iranian efforts.
"We are managing to pass at least 10 million barrels a day", said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent regarding this. "Yesterday, I think, was a great day. I don't remember well, 15, 17 million barrels." The volumes before the war were around 20 million barrels a day, he added.
