Key victory: The Supreme Court backed Trump and restricted mail-in voting ahead of the midterm elections

On August 11, Indira Talwani, a Democratic judge based in Boston who was nominated for the position by former President Barack Hussein Obama, blocked an executive order that President Donald Trump had issued in March of this year, which sought to preserve and protect the integrity of U.S. elections.

But just a few minutes ago, in what represents a key victory for electoral security and a harsh defeat for the Democratic Party, the Supreme Court of the United States overturned this ruling and restricted mail-in voting ahead of the midterm elections (midterms).

"Free, fair, and honest elections, free from fraud, errors, or suspicions, are fundamental to maintaining our constitutional Republic. The right of American citizens to have their votes counted and tabulated properly, without illegal dilution, is vital to determining the legitimate winner of an election," stated that presidential decree from earlier this year.

Talwani had prohibited the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) from implementing Trump's decree aimed at making mail-in ballots more secure in November. The six conservative justices of the highest court overcame the three dissenting votes from the left-leaning justices —Sotomayor, Jackson, and Kagan—and revoked this order.

While the decision represents a significant victory for Trump and a blow to Democratic fraud, it is important to note the provisional nature of it, whose ultimate legality is subject to multiple litigations that will occur in the coming weeks.
