The far-left activists were not bringing food or medicine into the territory, but were only seeking to create disturbances.

The Israeli Navy intercepted a new flotilla organized from Turkey heading to Gaza, in an operation that once again placed the maritime blockade over the Strip at the center of international attention.
Israeli naval forces, including commandos from the elite unit Shayetet 13, began to take control of several vessels while activists broadcast images on social media showing soldiers boarding the boats and detaining participants.
The operation took place following a security consultation led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who monitored the operation alongside Defense Minister Israel Katz and Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir.

During a communication with naval commanders, Netanyahu praised the intervention and stated that Israeli forces were “effectively neutralizing a malicious plan aimed at breaking the isolation imposed on Hamas terrorists in Gaza”.
The so-called “Global Sumud Flotilla” had set sail from Turkey last Thursday and gathered around 53 vessels with hundreds of far-left activists from 39 countries.
The group was organized by IHH, the same pro-terrorist organization linked to the Mavi Marmara flotilla in 2010, an episode that ended in violent clashes with Israeli forces.
Israel claims that several of the participating organizations have ties to Hamas and accuses the mission of seeking a political and media impact rather than genuine humanitarian assistance.
Israel stated that the vessels were not carrying significant aid. The Israeli body responsible for coordinating assistance to Gaza assured that hundreds of trucks with supplies enter the enclave daily and that, since October 2025, more than 1.5 million tons of humanitarian aid and medical equipment have been transferred to the Strip.
In parallel, a land convoy that had set off from Libya with the same objective was also stopped before reaching Egypt. For Jerusalem, both movements are part of an international campaign aimed at challenging the naval blockade imposed on Gaza since Hamas took control of the territory.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry described the flotilla as “a provocation” and reiterated that Israel “will not allow any violation of the legal maritime blockade on Gaza”.
