Israeli authorities confirmed that the remains of three murdered hostages crossed into Israeli territory on Sunday night, around 9:30 p.m. local time.
The transfer was carried out through the International Committee of the Red Cross, after Hamas claimed to have located the bodies and promised their return at 8:00 p.m. The remains were sent to the L. Greenberg Institute of Forensic Medicine in Abu Kabir for identification through DNA testing.
However, the news was received with caution in Jerusalem. Just two days earlier, the terrorist group had delivered fragments of human remains that, after forensic analysis, were found not to belong to any of the hostages still held captive in Gaza.
That episode made it clear that Hamas manipulates information and humanitarian gestures for propaganda purposes, even in matters as sensitive as the recovery of bodies.
Hamas sources told the Arabic channel Al Arabiya that the group had "located" the bodies of three hostages, without specifying their identities. Nevertheless, its credibility is severely damaged: on multiple occasions it has offered contradictory versions and has presented unidentified remains as part of "humanitarian gestures".
