Psychological terrorism: Islamic Jihad distributes images of one of the hostages

This is Rom Braslavski, who has been held captive by the terrorists since October 7

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist group released a video of the hostage Rom Braslavski, a security guard who has been held captive since October 7, 2023.

The Islamic radicals claimed that the footage is from the beginning of the month, at which point they lost contact with the captors.

The family requested that the video not be distributed, although they approved the publication of a still image from the film. In it, Braslavski appears pale and extremely thin, lying on the floor in an unknown location in the Gaza Strip.

The Braslavski family issued a statement in which they said they "are deeply moved. People talk about what is happening in Gaza, they talk about hunger. We want to tell everyone who talks about hunger: Did you see our Rom? He isn't receiving food and he isn't receiving medicine. He has simply been forgotten there."

The family added that Rom is seen breaking down in the video, which lasts only six minutes, "but Rom has been there for 664 days."

"They have managed to break Rom. Even the strongest person has a breaking point. Rom is an example of all the hostages. All of them must be brought home," they added.

They also included a direct appeal to the United States government: "We ask Special Envoy Witkoff to watch the video. We make an urgent request to President Trump: bring our son home."

On several occasions, Islamic Jihad has used psychological torture in an attempt to achieve a political benefit. For example, last April they filmed Braslavski and forced him to say on camera that "he was experiencing hell," as a way to pressure the Israeli government.

From Israel, officials remain hopeful of reaching an agreement that includes the release of all hostages, although it is not ruled out that, if this is not achieved, the fighting will intensify.
