US responds to Macron: Let them establish the Palestinian state on the French Riviera
Trump's ambassador to Israel replied with irony to the French president
The United States ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, replied with sarcasm to French President Emmanuel Macron's announcement that France will recognize a Palestinian state.
“Macron's unilateral 'declaration' about a 'Palestinian state' didn't say WHERE it would be,” Huckabee wrote on his X account. “Now I can exclusively reveal that France will offer the French Riviera and the new nation will be called 'Franc-en-Stina.'”
This is not the first time Huckabee has used this irony to criticize the French position. In June, the ambassador had already suggested that France should give up part of its territory to create a Palestinian state, especially after the October 7 massacre perpetrated by Hamas.
In statements to Fox News Digital, Huckabee insisted that this is the worst time to propose the creation of a Palestinian state.
“It's incredibly inappropriate, in the middle of a war that Israel is facing, to come out with a proposal that Israelis are increasingly rejecting firmly”, he said.
“What happened on October 7 changed many things. If France is so determined to see a Palestinian state, I have a suggestion: they should cut off a piece of the French Riviera and turn it into a Palestinian state. They have the right to do so, but not to impose that pressure on a sovereign nation. I find it repulsive that they believe they have the right to do something like that,” Huckabee added.
