The Clan of the Treacherous Yunes Displays Luxuries in Madrid
The most reviled political family in Veracruz is caught in Europe flaunting their wealth
Luxury and ostentation abroad
Miguel Ángel Yunes father and son, were spotted in Madrid shopping at high-end stores, such as the Loewe jewelry store, renowned for its exclusive pieces and elite clientele. The images, shared on social media and national media outlets, sparked a wave of outrage.
Who are the Yunes?
The Yunes are a political family from Veracruz. In recent months, they have gained prominence in the context of the approval of the judicial reform promoted by the ruling party, amid suspicions of betrayal from the opposition.

They reached the Senate with PAN, and betrayed their caucus and their voters by voting in favor of Morena's reform. It is believed that there was coercion from the regime, threatening them with legal action over various criminal investigation files against them.
Where did austerity go?
Users condemned the blatant inconsistency between the opulence and the political closeness of the clan with Morena, the party of "republican austerity." Those who once claimed to be opponents of the regime now seem to live with privileges worthy of a golden caste, protected by the cloak of official power.

"Enjoying total impunity after they helped sink the country and Morena purified them," a user commented in the message accompanying the images.
Reward for their legislative betrayal
Behind the trip and the million-dollar expenses lies a more serious suspicion. This extravagance is believed to be a kind of payment—direct or indirect—for having betrayed the opposition and supported the infamous judicial reform promoted by López Obrador's government.

Whatever the real reason for the luxuries of the most hated family in Veracruz, it exposes Morena's hypocrisy. Furthermore, it confirms what many citizens already know: in Morena's Mexico, austerity is only for the people.
