From the “Movimiento Viva México”, Eduardo Verástegui caused controversy for his opposition to the administration of Claudia Sheinbaum in Mexico.

The leader of the movement stated that the leader would not complete the 2024-2030 term. This is due to the disagreement with the policies promoted, as well as the ‘growing’ issue of insecurity in the country.

The producer has repeatedly shown his disagreement with the policy of Morena that supports Claudia Sheinbaum.

The economic and security situation of the country is discouraging

The recent security incidents due to the discovery of a clandestine crematorium and the complex tariff agreements with the United States. Verástegui estimated a negative outlook for the leadership in Mexico.

On the ‘X’ platform, the political activist shared a series of posts where he questioned the president's permanence in the Executive Power.

In his opinion, he considered that the Morena government has made detrimental decisions, and rated its performance: ‘It's going very badly and getting worse every day’.

“Mexico deserves much more than leaders who care about nothing but their pockets and personal interests. We will fight this battle together. Together we are stronger!“

he emphasized.

In the face of the discouraging outlook, Verástegui asserted that the Sheinbaum Pardo term ‘is in decline’. Furthermore, he doesn't expect the leader to successfully complete her administration, due to the current conflicts affecting the country.

“I believe that,#SheinbaumDoesNotFinish ¿Very soon new elections? ¿Manipulated surveys?¿Bussed-in supporters in the Zócalo?“

he wrote on his ‘X’ account.

The opinion of the people regarding Verástegui

The controversy caused a diversity of opinions on social media. A large part supported the speech of the “Movimiento Viva México” leader against Morena. Others justified that the president of Mexico has high approval.

In the latest survey issued by the newspaper ‘El Financiero’, the data showed that Sheinbaum reached a historic approval of 85%. It is worth mentioning that the surveys are conducted with only 1500 people (sometimes 10,000)

‘Movimiento Viva México’: ¿The new right?

Since February 2025, Verástegui celebrated that the INE officially authorized the 'Movimiento Viva México' to continue with its development as a national political party.

This organization aims to form a membership that responds to a real change compared to the opposition benches.

In its consolidation process, the party continues with the affiliation process for those users who wish to join its project.

The party proposes to fight for “a strong, sovereign, and free homeland”. The construction of this party will only be possible with the participation of ‘those who are willing to work for a nation with firm principles’.

It reads on their official social media pages.

The organization will have a period to convince 0.26% of the federal electoral roll to support them in their intention to become a political party.

They must also prove that they held 20 state assemblies to request their formal registration in February 2026.
