International shame: European media cover Mexican extermination camps
European news outlets covered the extermination camps of Mexican cartels following the disturbing images
Mexico was synonymous with solidarity, humor, and effort. Its beaches and gastronomy were a national pride. However, all that is in the past. Today, Mexico is known as a giant cemetery.
Last Friday, March 7, the group "Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco" made a horrible discovery. At the Izaguirre ranch, located in Teuchitlán, Jalisco, new evidence of the organized crime's barbarity was found.
The ranch was used by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). This place was used for confinements, criminal training, and executions.
International media expose the barbarity in Mexico
The discovery had a strong impact. International media quickly covered the news, labeling these sites as "clandestine crematoriums" or "extermination camps".
The state prosecutor's office confirmed the discovery of bone remains, presumably of missing persons. Additionally, between 200 and 400 pairs of shoes were found that likely belonged to the victims.
The news was reported by Reuters, RTV Española, The Guardian, and Le Parisien.
The outlet Le Parisien revealed an alarming reality: "Municipal police forces are often infiltrated by criminal gangs". Meanwhile, The Guardian highlighted that this discovery "shows the crisis of forced disappearances related to organized crime in Mexico".
Despite the magnitude of the case, Reuters did not report it immediately. It only picked up the news on Tuesday, without providing new information.
Meanwhile, RTVE from Spain was even more forceful in its analysis: "Mexico has become a giant cemetery".
The Attorney General promises to investigate, but what next?
After the viralization of the case, the local authorities promised to continue with the investigations. They assure that they will punish those responsible and those who neglected their duty.
The Attorney General, Alejandro Gertz Manero, acknowledged the seriousness of the case. He described it as "very critical and very serious". However, he did not present any concrete strategy to stop these crimes.
In the face of government inaction, the Colectivo Luz de Esperanza called for a mobilization for the upcoming Saturday, March 15. The protest will take place at the state Government Palace under the slogan "Never again Teuchitlán, Jalisco".
