In an operation triggered by the robbery of a cigarette delivery person in San Juan del Río, security forces have detained three individuals. These individuals are former members of the SEDENA and the National Guard, involved in a hydrocarbon theft operation.
Suspicious Backgrounds
The detainees had not only been discharged from their respective institutions a month ago for inappropriate conduct. They were also under investigation for alleged connections with local politicians from the Morena party.
The capture of these individuals led authorities to a property used as a base for criminal operations. This place is located near the federal highway 120 San Juan del Río-Xilitla.
At this site and another one in the La Rueda neighborhood, large quantities of hydrocarbon, presumably stolen, were stored. They were awaiting illegal distribution. Both sites are currently under intensive surveillance while search warrants are awaited.
Weapons and Stolen Vehicles at the Scene
In the secured property, weapons, long gun magazines, and at least five trucks with theft reports were also found. This not only underscores the magnitude of the criminal operation.
It also reveals the preparation and resources of those involved. The operation included collaboration from the Municipal Police, the State Police, the Mexican Army's 7th Regiment, and the National Guard, highlighting the seriousness of the threat.
