Only the 4T can speak: Sheinbaum wants to ban foreign propaganda
Sheinbaum prioritizes keeping the narrative intact rather than acknowledging the mistakes of her failed migration policy
The president Claudia Sheinbaum announced that she will propose to Congress to ban foreign propaganda in Mexican media, following the release of a spot by U.S. official Kristi Noem aimed at migrants.
Sheinbaum described the content as hate speech and proposed to reinstate a rule eliminated in 2014 that banned political or ideological messages from foreign governments on Mexican radio and television.

But beyond the supposed defense of sovereignty, the measure reveals the true objective:
to control the discourse, shield the official narrative, and censor any content that contradicts the dogmas of the 4T.
Illegal immigration unchecked... and with permission
Meanwhile, a scandal is brewing over a U.S. spot, illegal migration in Mexico is growing uncontrollably. Thousands cross the country without documents, registration, or supervision. The routes are infiltrated by crime, and the immigration stations are overwhelmed, with scarce municipal resources.
But instead of imposing order, the federal government pretends to have everything under control, hiding behind the narrative of "human rights" to justify the lack of regulation.

Illegal migration is no longer a humanitarian emergency; it is a political tool. The regime uses the figure of the migrant as a symbolic shield: it victimizes those who break the law.
Meanwhile, it ignores the Mexican communities affected by this phenomenon. When someone from abroad dares to state the obvious—that crossing without authorization should have consequences— the response is not to argue: it is to censor.
Masked sovereignty, legalized censorship
The reform proposal doesn't defend sovereignty; it defends a fabricated version of the country. A country where questioning migration policy is not allowed, neither from within nor from outside. The problem is not Noem's message.
The problem is that it reveals what the government refuses to accept: that the Mexican border is broken and the migratory flow is no longer manageable. Instead of strengthening immigration institutions, Sheinbaum seeks to silence those who say it out loud. Meanwhile, official propaganda spreads without limits.
From public media to school books, the ideology of the 4T is promoted without restraint, without criticism, without balance. But if a foreign message contradicts that vision... then there is talk of "intrusion," "hate," and "danger."
It is not sovereignty: it is selective censorship. It is not defense of dignity: it is fear of contrast.
Because in this regime, illegal immigration is not a problem to be solved... it is a symbol to be exploited. And when that symbol is touched, even from another country, the reaction is not diplomatic or strategic: it is purely ideological.
The president doesn't seek to protect Mexico from foreign messages; she seeks to protect her narrative from any uncomfortable reality. And for that reason, she prefers to legislate silence rather than face the disaster.
