Andrea Chávez: a senator without results but very expensive

The young Morena legislator has been more active in self-promotion than in her parliamentary work

Andrea Chávez, senator for Morena, has built a meteoric career in politics, but her legislative performance is poor. In contrast to the responsibility her position demands, her focus has been more media-driven than institutional, which highlights a concerning lack of commitment to her role.

Far from standing out for her work in the Senate, Chávez has dedicated herself to promoting an early campaign for the governorship of Chihuahua, using resources of questionable origin. According to reports, she has even used medical units for her personal promotion.

Deficient legislative work

In the last session period, Chávez presented only two initiatives. Both focused on gender and disability issues, but without significant impact. Meanwhile, she has conducted 51 early campaign events, according to official information.

Her strategy has been to replace ideas with propaganda. Through social media, public events, and tours with public resources, she has positioned herself as a "new face" of the officialdom, without this being reflected in tangible results for her constituents.

Advisors without legislative experience

According to reports, the senator has six advisors, of whom only one has experience in the legislative field. The rest come from areas such as veterinary and styling. This reflects a lack of seriousness in the formation of her work team.

Portals like Animal Político have documented how her events focus on her personal promotion and supporting reforms pushed by Morena, such as the judicial election, rather than on substantive proposals or concrete results.

Morena reprimands her, but impunity continues

Amid the controversy over the misuse of resources, even Claudia Sheinbaum had to intervene, implicitly requesting a change of rules within the party. Despite this, there was no real sanction or accountability.

While Mexico demands results, politicians like Andrea Chávez get paid without working. Her case is yet another reflection of the partisan use of power in Morena: without professionalism, without results, and with total impunity.
