Friends of 'Andy' López, behind the AXE Ceremony Festival where two people died
The event was organized by businessmen close to the son of former President AMLO
The AXE Ceremony Festival 2025 ended in tragedy after the collapse of a structure during a performance at Parque Bicentenario. Two photographers, Berenice Giles Rivera and Miguel Ángel Rojas Hernández, were crushed by the decorative setup that collapsed in broad daylight. Despite the incident, the event was not immediately suspended.
What began as an accident turned into a political scandal. The festival was organized by Grupo ECO, owned by Diego Jiménez Labora. A businessman close to Andy López Beltrán, son of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Network of power and privilege under the guise of culture
The federal Ministry of Culture is also involved by omission. Its head, Claudia Curiel de Icaza, worked on the production of the Ceremony in 2017 and keeps closeness with the organizers. Today, from the government, she is part of the apparatus that condones the lack of responsibility in this type of events.
The Miguel Hidalgo mayor's office took hours to react. It wasn't until midnight that the authorities ordered the cancellation, despite two people having already died. The show went on as if nothing had happened, with music, lights, and applause on a stage stained by omission.

Civil Protection attributes the collapse to supervision failures.
The National Institute of Administration and Appraisals of National Assets (INDAABIN) has already announced that it will review the concession of Parque Bicentenario. But so far, there are no responsible parties or arrests.
Tragedy with powerful patrons
The links between the organizers and the former president's son are not new. Andy López Beltrán has been accused of operating business networks under the protection of his surname. The discourse of austerity and "don't lie, don't steal, don't betray" always falls apart in the face of money and privileges.
Two people died due to the negligence of a power network disguised as culture. And the system replied as always: silence, justifications, and protection for the former president's close circle.
The 4T promised to end corruption, but ended up covering for its own.
Meanwhile, as families bury their dead, Andy’s friends continue profiting without consequences.
