In February 2025, Mexico experienced an alarming loss of 277,000 jobs, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
This figure confirms the deep labor crisis the country is going through during the current administration, marked by ineffective public policies and poor economic management.

Collapse of formal employment and rise of informality
The formal sector was the most affected, with the elimination of 346,905 jobs. In contrast, the informal sector recorded an increase of 68,968 jobs.
This shift toward informality reflects the lack of stable and well-paid job opportunities, a result of an administration that has failed to create suitable conditions for investment.

Most affected sectors: services and agriculture in decline
The services sector was the hardest hit, with the loss of 305,000 positions in February. It was followed by the agricultural sector, with a decrease of 141,000 jobs.
