Verástegui against the government for the contradictions of Chocolate Bienestar

Users criticized the high-sugar chocolate following the government's junk food ban

The Wellness Chocolate, a state brand, has been much talked about since it was announced last February. The state product has a high sugar content, contradicting the government's campaign against junk food.

The product promoted by the federal government has been labeled with three warning seals for its high caloric content, sugars, and saturated fats. For many, this fact directly contradicts the official narrative of promoting a healthier diet in the country.

Claudia Sheinbaum defended the product from criticism; the government's favoritism was exposed.

On social media, users have pointed out the inconsistency between this product and the Live Healthy, Live Happy strategy. The government seeks to limit junk food in Mexican schools with this program, including sodas and sweets.

The intention to combat obesity seems to fade when the state promotes a product that falls into the category of not recommended.

Amid the criticism, Claudia Sheinbaumdefended the chocolate in her morning conference, but the government's favoritism and potential unfair competition were exposed.

She highlighted that the product has a high cocoa content and only "a minimal amount of sugar," which is a lie if we compare the chocolates distributed in the markets.

She argued that, unlike commercial chocolates full of chemicals, the Wellness chocolate is more natural and healthy. However, that is also incorrect, because the market also offers low-sugar or natural chocolates.

While junk food is banned in schools, a product with health warnings is distributed by the government. For several analysts, this double discourse reflects improvisation rather than a real public health strategy, where decisions seem to respond more to politics than to science.

Eduardo Verástegui makes a strong criticism of the government.

Eduardo Verástegui also took advantage of the controversy to harshly question the government. On social media, he denounced that while the country is bleeding from violence and corruption, the administration prioritizes the sale of state products.

"They are more concerned with selling chocolates of cynicism than cleaning their ranks of criminals," he wrote.

The contradiction of the Wellness Chocolate highlights what many fear: that the government discourse is full of simulations.

Promoting health while selling questionable products exposes the lack of coherence of those who govern today with slogans, but without tangible results for the real well-being of Mexicans.
