A confrontation between alleged organized crime groups left a toll of several dead and injured in Montemorelos, Nuevo León. The shootout, which occurred in broad daylight, triggered panic among the residents and forced the mobilization of state and federal security forces.

According to the first reports from the Nuevo León Prosecutor's Office, the shooting occurred in a commercial area of the municipality, where two rival groups clashed with high-caliber weapons.
Witnesses reported that armed individuals arrived in several trucks and began shooting at a group of people inside an establishment.
The gunfire caused chaos among the passersby, who tried to take shelter in nearby shops. Some images shared on social media showed citizens lying on the ground seeking refuge, while the gunshots were heard.
After the shootout, the strikers fled the scene, leaving several people dead and others seriously injured.

State Police and National Guard officers arrived at the site minutes after the confrontation and cordoned off the area to begin investigations. Forensic personnel carried out the removal of the bodies, while paramedics transported the injured to nearby hospitals.
The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, condemned the events and assured that security in the region will be reinforced in order to prevent further acts of violence. He also informed that special operations will be implemented to locate those responsible for the attack.
