Shootout in Tepito left three dead and exposed the failure of the CDMX government

An armed attack in the Morelos neighborhood left three dead and five arrested. Violence remains rampant in the capital

Tepito became a war zone: attack in broad daylight

In broad daylight, armed individuals unleashed a shootout at the intersection of González Ortega and Díaz de León streets, in the Morelos neighborhood, better known as Tepito.

The attack left three dead and five arrested, in what appears to be a dispute between criminal groups.

The gunfire sowed panic among merchants and passersby, who ran for cover in the face of the brutality of the attack.

The gunshots were heard several blocks away, and the area was plunged into chaos as the strikers fled.

A food vendor died in the crossfire

Two men were directly attacked, one died at the scene and another died in the hospital.

During the escape, the strikers killed a food vendor who was in the area, showing the total impunity with which the criminals operate.

The merchant had no relation to the events, but was executed mercilessly just for being in the wrong place.

The hitmen escaped the scene, while people demanded the presence of the police, who arrived late, as always.

Five arrested and an arsenal seized

Security elements implemented an operation and managed to capture five individuals, including a minor.

Among the seized items were firearms, bulletproof vests, and drugs, clear evidence of the crime control in the area.

Despite the arrests, the residents know that the violence won't end, as the detentions don't affect the criminal structures that dominate Tepito.

The criminals operate with total impunity, and the authorities seem incapable of dismantling their networks.

Tepito remains a no man's land

Tepito has become a lawless territory, where criminal groups impose their own rules.

The streets of the most famous neighborhood in Mexico City remain dominated by drug trafficking, extortion, and violence.

The disputes between La Unión Tepito and the Anti-Unión have left multiple executions, armed attacks, and disappearances.

Merchants are forced to pay fees, while residents live in constant fear of getting caught in the crossfire.

The CDMX government still can't control insecurity

The Morelos neighborhood is a hotspot of violence and drug trafficking, dominated by criminal groups that operate without consequences.

The head of Government continues to assure that the city is safe, but the reality is different.

Every day, the capital sinks further into violence, while the government still lacks a real strategy to curb crime.

The attack in Tepito is just another episode of Mexico City's security failure.

While the head of Government focuses on speeches and empty promises, the reality is that the capital is out of control.

The inhabitants of Tepito live in a war not officially recognized, but that leaves dead and missing every day.

The authorities continue to do nothing, allowing organized crime to take over more territory in Mexico City.
