Found in a clandestine grave in Guanajuato: an Army captain

The military personnel were kidnapped and executed in Guanajuato

The bodies were found in a clandestine grave in the municipality of Yuriria, Guanajuato, after being reported missing since February 15.

The victims were identified as Julián Torres Manzanares, 38 years old, captain of the Army, and Natalia Pelcastre Simón, 22 years old, agent of the National Guard.

According to reports,  both were kidnapped by an armed group that violently intercepted them. So far, there is no information on the motives for their murder or on the perpetrators of the crime.

Authorities investigate, but there are no arrests

The Guanajuato State Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation to clarify the facts, but so far no progress has been reported.

Relatives of the victims  demand justice, as they claim that the  security forces in Guanajuato have been constant targets of attacks by organized crime.

The bodies were found with signs of violence, suggesting they were tortured before being killed and buried in the grave.

Guanajuato remains the most violent state in the country

This discovery confirms the serious security crisis facing Guanajuato, an entity that has led homicide statistics in recent years due to the presence of drug cartels.

The dispute between criminal groups  has turned the region into one of the most dangerous in the country, with constant attacks on military personnel, police, and civilians.

The murder of these two members of the security forces demonstrates the impunity with which the cartels operate in the state.

The government has not been able to stop the violence in Guanajuato

Despite operations and deployments of the National Guard, organized crime continues to challenge the authorities, executing members of the security forces without fear of reprisals.

The federal government  has limited itself to announcing reinforcement measures in the area, but the attacks continue to occur frequently.

This clearly shows that the security strategy has been ineffective.

Meanwhile, the families of the victims demand justice, but impunity continues to reign in a state where violence has already become commonplace.
