Two armed men and the minor fled in a car after they were intercepted by the officers

An underage offender under 12 years old died during the early hours of this Tuesday after an armed confrontation with police officers in the town of Remedios de Escalada, in the Buenos Aires district of Tres de Febrero. The incident occurred in the context of a chase and shootout that ended in the area known as Barrio de Emergencia Puerta 8.
According to the information disclosed, the episode began when officers tried to identify the people who were traveling in a Fiat Uno Van Fire. Inside the vehicle, at least two armed men and the minor were traveling.
According to the details provided, at the moment of the identification the driver of the suspicious vehicle suddenly accelerated, which initiated a chase by the police personnel. During the escape, the offenders began to fire shots at the officers.

In that situation, the officers replied to the aggression in self-defense, resulting in an exchange of gunfire that extended for several meters. The confrontation continued until the vehicle was finally intercepted in Barrio de Emergencia Puerta 8, specifically at the intersection of Catamarca Street, between El Parque and Eva Perón Avenue (Provincial Route 8).
Upon reaching that point, the two adults who were in the front of the vehicle got out and escaped on foot, managing to flee. Meanwhile, the minor remained in the back of the vehicle.
After securing the area, the officers proceeded to inspect the interior of the Fiat. At that moment, they verified that the body of the young offender was lifeless. In the passenger compartment of the vehicle, several spent shell casings were found.

The authorities identified the minor as Uriel, 12 years old. According to the official report, the minor had prior records for an accessory after the fact offense that occurred on October 27, 2025, recorded in the jurisdiction of the 11th police station of Tres de Febrero.
After the incident, the Functional Instruction Unit No. 6 of San Martín, which is headed by prosecutor Gabriela Pino, intervened. The representative of the Public Prosecutor's Office ordered a series of measures to move the investigation forward and clarify the circumstances of the confrontation.
Among the decisions adopted, the prosecutor ordered the participation of experts from the Argentine National Gendarmerie (GNA), who were placed in charge of carrying out the technical and ballistic studies at the scene. These expert reports will aim to reconstruct the dynamics of the shootout and determine the origin of the shots.
So far, the prosecutor's office hasn't adopted any restrictive measures against the police personnel who took part in the operation. The officers remain on duty while the corresponding judicial proceedings are carried out.
