A man accused of committing multiple scams using the so-called "uncle's story" scheme was arrested this Sunday while he was casting his vote in the Buenos Aires district of Moreno.

The arrest took place at Special Education School No. 501, located at 200 Tucumán Street. The suspect was intercepted by officers from the City Police as he was leaving the facility, immediately after he had cast his vote.

According to police sources, the individual was on the run and was being intensely sought by the Buenos Aires justice system. There was an arrest warrant against him for his alleged involvement in various fraudulent schemes. After being identified and detained, the accused was placed at the disposal of National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 20, which is handling the case.

The arrest of individuals with outstanding warrants during elections is an event that tends to repeat itself in every election. In the August elections in Buenos Aires province, eight such cases were recorded.

The arrests took place in educational institutions in La Plata, Lomas de Zamora, Tigre, and Quilmes. The detainees were accused of various crimes, including sexual abuse, aggravated robbery, and aggravated weapons abuse. In all operations, the Buenos Aires police deployed officers in the schools to carry out control and surveillance tasks.

During the 2023 presidential elections, the number of detainees was even higher: 14 people were arrested after presenting themselves to vote despite having outstanding arrest warrants or active search notices.
