The scandal over the Russian disinformation network against the government of Javier Milei made a very obvious difference between the media involved. While more than 20 portals were mentioned in international research, only two made progress in identifying internal managers for the publication of funded content: A24 and Infobae
.Most of the media mentioned opted for silence, evasive or outright lack of explanations. On the other hand, A24 and Infobae were the only ones that, at least until now, pointed to specific names within
their own structures.
As it transpired, Grupo América initiated an internal investigation after receiving a press inquiry about ten articles suspected of being part of the Russian-funded scheme. Based on this survey, the media identified that the notes belonged to Winokur, who had already been moved from his position in December and
then relocated to another area.In the case of Infobae, Juan Pablo Piscetta, a member of the internal union committee and leader of the SIPreba, was appointed. As it was announced, he would have published two articles linked to this network, for which he would have received a payment close to one thousand dollars. The situation generated strong discomfort within the editorial staff and led to demands for their
removal.
The contrast with the rest of the media ecosystem, historically linked to Kirchnerism, is very marked. Portals such as C5N, Ámbito, El Destape, Diario Con Vos, Diario Registrado, Big Bang News, Dos Bases or Realpolitik were punctuated by the investigation, but so far they have not publicly advanced on proper names or explained how these notes were
published. Some media didn't respond directly. Others claimed to be unaware of the origin of the content or attributed the publications to intermediaries, agencies or third parties. But none, with the exception of A24 and Infobae, exposed a specific person responsible within their drafting or internal
structure.
What are the media mentioned in the investigation The
original research argues that the Russian network would have allocated about 283,000 dollars to install at least 250 publications in more than 20 Argentine media between June and October 2024. The objective would have been to erode the image of the Milei government, amplify internal tensions and push narratives functional
to the interests of the Kremlin. The following are all the media allegedly involved in the network:
