The consolidation of strategic alliances in high-impact technological sectors marks a new step in Argentina's international projection. Within this framework, the state company VENG S.A. signed a new agreement with the Italian company e-GEOS for the global commercialization of images from the SAOCOM satellite constellation, strengthening a cooperation initiated in 2021 and reaffirming the country's international position in the space scenario. The contract incorporates optimized conditions that reinforce the commercial framework between both parties, including the updating of financial terms, the redefinition of marketing zones — keeping the Italian Space Agency within the current framework for Europe and the Mediterranean — and enabling VENG to expand its reach into other markets. In addition, progress was made in the regularization of previous economic commitments, consolidating a long-term strategic relationship
.From a global perspective, the agreement reaffirms the role of e-GEOS as an international distributor of SAR data from SAOCOM satellites, a position that had already been recognized in the initial stage of cooperation. The Italian company, which is 20% owned by ASI and 80% is owned by Telespazio, part of the Leonardo group, has signed a multi-year cooperation, commercialization and distribution agreement with VENG, an Argentinian company that is 97% controlled by the National Commission for Space Activities. The SAOCOM constellation, made up of the SAOCOM 1A and 1B L-band radar satellites, is articulated with the first and second generation satellites of the Italian COSMO-SkyMed constellation, under the orbit of the ASI and the Italian Ministry of Defense, forming the Italian-Argentine Satellite System for Emergency Management (SIASGE). This system constitutes the first European-American integrated radar constellation dedicated to emergency management
.
In this regard, C. Milena A. Lerario, CEO of e-GEOS, highlighted: “The new SAOCOM data distribution agreement consolidates the e-GEOS satellite data portfolio, unparalleled in its breadth and complementarity, allowing for increasingly advanced solutions to support global strategic priorities, from emergency management to sustainable development.” He also stressed that the agreement “demonstrates the strategic value of industrial cooperation between Italy and Argentina”, driven by institutional dialogue and industrial excellence
.For his part, Laureano Quiroga, General Manager of VENG, said: “This new agreement between VENG and e-GEOS strengthens the international positioning of the SAOCOM constellation and highlights the unique value of L-band SAR technology.” Along these lines, he explained that “the penetrating power of this wavelength allows advanced analysis of soil moisture, a key variable for the global agricultural sector”, while stressing that interferometric solutions (InSAR) “offer an accuracy of centimeters and subcentimeters to monitor infrastructure stability and terrain deformation in critical applications such as infrastructure and natural resource management, including mining and energy operations.”
