Since its arrival in April 2024, Argentina has become the market where Starlink grew the most globally, according to data from the company itself.
With more than 700,000 active users and an expansion rate of 2% per week, the service powered by Elon Musk found demand in the country that exceeded initial forecasts.
The landing of technology came after a deregulation promoted by the government of Javier Milei, which enabled the arrival of the service to the local market. Originally designed for remote areas or areas with low connectivity, the use of Starlink in Argentina took a different direction than expected by the company
. Elon Musk.
Currently, 70% of connections in the country are residential and, in many cases, they replace traditional internet providers
.
This level of mass adoption began to create certain operational challenges. In high-density regions such as the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Vaca Muerta, the network has levels of congestion that force the company to manage demand while it moves forward with the deployment of
new satellites.
In regional terms, Starlink already has a 25% market share in Latin America. Looking ahead to the coming months, the company plans to exceed one million users in Argentina, positioning it as one of the countries with the highest penetration of the service worldwide
.
Even according to sources close to the company, local performance led to the decision to use the country as a test platform for new developments.

Along these lines, starting in May, a package will be launched in the Argentine market that will allow a Wi-Fi connection to be brought to vehicles using a portable device and a power adapter. The initiative aims to capture a segment with low vehicle connectivity and irregular mobile coverage, where the demand for permanent internet access continues to
grow.
The movement also responds to the need to correct a deviation in the use of the product. The Starlink Mini equipment, originally designed for mobility, ended up being used mostly as a fixed solution due to its price-performance ratio. With this new proposal, the company seeks to reorient this behavior towards a model in which connectivity accompanies the user beyond the
home.
In this way, Argentina consolidates itself as a key market for Starlink's expansion, reflecting not only the impact of regulatory changes but also rapid technological adoption in different user segments
