The Government of Javier Milei has already eliminated a total of 67,253 public jobs across the country since its inauguration, saving billions of pesos, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec).
The figure reflects the scope of a sustained policy of reduction by the State, aimed at reducing public spending and advancing the reduction of taxes.
The official report details that most of the reduction was concentrated in the National Public Administration (APN). In November 2023, prior to the start of the current administration, there were 233,098 positions in that area, while currently the number has fallen to 187,734. This implies a decrease of 45,364 employees in that segment
.
Within the APN, the loss was distributed in different dependencies. Of the 45,364 workers who left their positions, 22,975 were in the decentralized administration, 16,893 in the centralized administration, 3,885 in the decentralized administration
and 1,611 in other entities. This process took place in parallel with a reform of the State, where several areas were eliminated or restructured, which resulted in the disappearance of multiple positions.
The trend was also replicated in the area of state companies and corporations. In November 2023, this sector had 110,259 employees, a figure that fell to 88,370
