President Javier Milei put the demand for the Falkland Islands back at the center of the agenda and assured that his government is making “advances like never before”, in an international context that is beginning to show favorable changes for Argentina. However, he also warned that the final objective “does not depend only on us”, referring to the geopolitical complexity
of the conflict.During a recent interview, the president remarked that sovereignty “is not negotiated”, but that it must be addressed with strategic intelligence: “You have to do it with a cold brain at the service of a warm heart.” In addition, he stressed that Argentina is installing the claim in all international forums and obtaining unprecedented support in the region
.The Trump factor and a possible historic turning point in the United States
Milei's statements come in parallel with information that generated a global impact: an internal document of the United States Department of Defense, revealed by Reuters, indicates that the Donald Trump administration is evaluating measures against NATO allies that did not support military operations
against Iran.Among these measures is the possibility of reviewing US diplomatic support for so-called European “imperial possessions”, explicitly including the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.

This scenario marks a turning point. For decades, Washington maintained a position favorable to the United Kingdom, but tension with Europe and Trump's pressure strategy could change that balance
