President Javier Milei will travel to Lima on Monday night to participate on Tuesday in the swearing-in of Keiko Fujimori as president of Peru, in a visit with strong political content that will include a bilateral meeting with the elected president and the awarding of the Doctor Honoris Causa degree by the University of San Martín de Porres.

The departure of the presidential flight is scheduled for 8 PM from Argentina. The official activities will begin on Tuesday, July 28, the day Peru celebrates its National Holidays and conducts the traditional transfer of supreme command at the Congress headquarters.

At 11 AM in Lima, 1 PM in Argentina, Milei will hold a bilateral meeting with Fujimori, who will formally take over the leadership of the country a few hours later. So far, no specific topics for the meeting have been announced.

The meeting will take place before the investiture ceremony and will mark the first in-person contact between the two leaders on the day of the government transition. The presence of the Argentine president represents a political gesture towards the new Peruvian administration and towards a leader identified with the regional right.

At 12:45 PM, Peru time, Milei will move to Congress to witness the swearing-in and transfer of command to Fujimori. In Argentina, it will be 2:45 PM. The leader of Fuerza Popular will thus begin her term at the helm of Peru following the electoral process held this year.

The participation of the Argentine President in the ceremony reinforces the Government's decision to maintain an active presence in the main political events in the region and the consolidation of a regional right-wing alliance.

A new international recognition

The agenda will continue at 4 PM in Lima, 6 PM in Argentina, with a ceremony at the University of San Martín de Porres, where Milei will receive the Doctor Honoris Causa degree. During the event, the head of state will offer words of gratitude before the authorities of the institution.

The academic recognition adds to the international distinctions received by the Argentine president since the beginning of his term and once again projects abroad his defense of the ideas of freedom, fiscal balance, and economic reforms.

The visit to Lima will thus focus on three central activities in a few hours: the bilateral meeting with Fujimori, participation in the presidential transfer, and the university ceremony. With this agenda, Milei will accompany the beginning of a new political stage in Peru and strengthen the Argentine connection with one of the governments joining the right-wing alliance.
