The governor of Catamarca, Raúl Jalil, welcomed the recent approval of the reform of the Glacier Law promoted by the government of Javier Milei and strongly criticized Peronism for not having accompanied the initiative, pointing directly at Axel Kicillof.
During an interview with Gelatina, Jalil defended the advancement of regulations and linked economic development to the environmental issue, proposing a position aligned with the need to exploit natural resources in provinces with productive limitations.
“There is no more negative impact on the environment than poverty. We, in the Catamarcan Puna, rain 50 millimeters a year, so we cannot plant soybeans. We have to see and develop our natural resources,” said the president, stressing the importance of enabling new activities in territories with particular conditions
.In this regard, the governor highlighted the role of provinces in managing their own resources, one of the central axes of the reform
.“I think this has been a good step forward; natural resources belong to the provinces. All the provinces have people who are very qualified to carry out the DIA, because in the Environmental Impact Declaration we had all the power except that of glaciers, and in that there was a small inconsistency,
