An armed attack occurred in the archaeological zone of Teotihuacán, one of the most important tourist sites in Mexico, leaving one dead and several injured.
The event took place in a context of high visitor attendance and generated scenes of panic among domestic and foreign tourists.
The shooting took place in the Pyramid of the Moon, from where the assailant opened fire on people who were there. As a result, a Canadian tourist died and at least 13 people were injured, several of them of different nationalities

The situation forced a rapid deployment of security forces and emergency services, as visitors tried to protect themselves from sudden violence.
The episode revealed vulnerabilities in access controls and prevention within one of the most emblematic points of Mexican tourism.
Once the attack was contained, it was confirmed that the perpetrator was Julio César Jasso Ramírez, a 27-year-old man who, after shooting at those present, took his own life. According to the investigations, the aggressor acted alone and would have planned the event
in advance.
Weapons, ammunition and material linked to the Columbine massacre were found in his possession, suggesting a possible influence of this type of attack on his actions.

In addition, signs of strong radicalization and premeditated violent behavior were detected, reinforcing the hypothesis that this was not an improvised event
.
Testimonies collected at the scene indicate that the attacker intimidated some people before starting the shooting, which shows a worrying level of aggressiveness and determination.
This profile is framed in a broader phenomenon: individuals who, influenced by violent content and extremist communities, transfer these ideas to the real world.
The case reopens the debate about security in Mexico, especially in tourist areas of great international relevance. It also raises the need to address in greater depth the processes of individual radicalization, which can lead to episodes of violence with tragic consequences
.
As the investigation progresses, the attack in Teotihuacán leaves a clear warning: even the most symbolic and crowded places are not exempt from these types of threats.
