Trump will impose sanctions on Cuban regime officials responsible for violating national security

On May 1, 2026, President Donald J. Trump marked a milestone in the defense of freedom by signing an Executive Order that imposes devastating sanctions against the Cuban regime. This measure, based on the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, seeks to neutralize direct threats to U.S. national security and foreign policy emanating from the

island.

The Order leaves no room for doubt: severe restrictions will apply to any entity, person or affiliate that supports the dictatorship's security apparatus.

The presidential term relentlessly persecutes those who are “complicit in government corruption or serious human rights violations”, as well as material collaborators of the Cuban government.

Under the “Putting America First” doctrine, the President is dismantling the nefarious influence of a regime that acts as a base for foreign adversaries. The White House confirms that Cuba houses facilities aimed at “obtaining and exploiting sensitive national security information” from our country, functioning as a pawn of hostile powers

.

The Trump administration has reported that the regime maintains close ties with states that sponsor terrorism, such as the Government of Iran, and provides refuge to criminal groups such as Hezbollah.

In addition, Castro's corruption has caused migratory chaos, sending more than 850,000 migrants to our borders between 2022 and the fall of 2024.

This new coup of authority adds to the successful record of the President, who already in his first term reversed the “unilateral agreement of the Obama administration”, which only served to oxygenate dictators without obtaining reforms. The President has been clear: “President Trump's first administration correctly designated Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism

.”

The pressure strategy has been constant: in June 2025, the policy was reinforced through a Presidential Memorandum on National Security. Later, in January 2026, a national emergency was declared to impose tariffs on countries that supply oil to the island, thus cutting off the flow of resources that fuel the

repression.

Donald J. Trump's leadership has demonstrated results where others only offered rhetoric. Operation Absolute Resolution succeeded in capturing Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro to face U.S. justice. In addition, Operation Southern Spear eliminated 186 narco-terrorists, stopping the entry of fentanyl

into our nation.

Finally, the White House highlights that the world is safer thanks to actions such as Operation Midnight Hammer, which eliminated Iran's nuclear capacity, and Operation Epic Fury, which achieved its objectives in less than six weeks.
