A group of astronomers from the Main Astronomical Observatory of Ukraine claimed to have detected more than 20 unidentified objects in the vicinity of the Moon during various observation periods in 2025, in a study that, despite its extraordinary claims, has not yet been independently confirmed.
According to the report, the researchers recorded these phenomena on two key days: September 7, 2025, during observations made at 19:05 and 19:27, and August 16 of the same year at 2:52.
The captures were obtained using a high-speed camera, capable of recording 20 images per second, attached to a telescope in Vinarivka, in the Kiev region.
The scientists classified the objects into two categories: “atmospheric,” which appeared to remain stationary, and “continental,” which showed high-speed movements across the lunar surface.

In both cases, they noted behavior patterns that they described as unusual, including variations in brightness and synchronized rotations.
"UFOs are observed on Earth and in the space close to it. We believe that the Moon serves as a base for UFOs," the researchers stated in the document, where they even raise the possibility of a technologically advanced civilization.
Among the most striking data, the study claims that some objects could reach considerable dimensions. In certain cases, sizes were estimated to be between 15 and 25 miles in diameter, although the authors themselves acknowledge that these figures depend on assumptions about the reflectivity of the observed materials.
In more conservative scenarios, the objects would measure around 1,440 feet, although their actual size remains uncertain.
The report also describes synchronized behaviors among objects separated by large distances, such as simultaneous flashes detected at two different points, which the team considered statistically significant. However, they clarify that this does not demonstrate communication or intelligent control.

Other findings include ring-shaped objects that apparently absorbed radiation instead of emitting it, with complete rotations every three minutes and estimated speeds of up to 6.8 miles per second.
According to the calculations presented, these structures could generate centrifugal forces greater than Earth's gravity, which opens hypotheses about a possible “” and that the objects could reach Earth in just 20 minutes.
However, the claims of the study face considerable skepticism. The researchers themselves admit that they cannot determine the composition of the objects nor completely rule out alternative explanations, such as atmospheric distortions, telescope errors, or artifacts generated during image processing.
Furthermore, organizations like NASA and the U.S. government have repeatedly stated that, while there are unidentified aerial phenomena without definitive explanation, there is no scientific evidence confirming the presence of extraterrestrial technology or artificial structures on the Moon.
