A situation that began as a gesture of solidarity ended in a prolonged legal conflict

A woman who had lent her apartment from the Procrear Plan to a coworker two years ago managed to recover it recently after an eviction trial and found the property vandalized, with massive accumulated debts and political messages painted on the walls.
The home is located in the Estación Buenos Aires housing complex, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Parque Patricios. It is an apartment that had been delivered brand new and without prior use.
However, when the door was opened at the end of last November, in the presence of a court officer, what appeared was an uninhabitable space: destroyed walls and graffitied, broken glass, missing fixtures, and full of filth.
The case
Mariela had received the apartment through the Procrear program, but in March 2023 she still had an active rental contract that was costly to terminate.
In that context, she decided to lend the property to a coworker, an ultra-Kirchnerist activist, under a "verbal" agreement. The arrangement was a temporary loan for use: there would be no rent payment, but the occupant had to cover the building fees and utilities.
None of that happened. According to the owner's account, the woman did not keep up with the payments and, when the time came for Mariela to move into her own apartment, she refused to vacate it.
In addition to leaving a massive debt, she justified her continued stay with an argument that surprised the owner. "No one really did me any favor. You should have come to live here. It is state housing and you are practically getting it for free. And I partly paid for it too because it comes from all our tax money," stated the Kirchnerist activist.

The conflict led to a legal process. Although the eviction ruling was issued in July 2025, it could only be enforced last month. When Mariela entered her apartment, the feeling was that she was stepping into someone else's place. Despite having recovered the keys and the legal right to the property, she could not recognize herself in that space that she had once envisioned as her home.
The walls were covered in graffiti with messages full of resentment and political slogans. "You, who smeared me in public, now I hope you enjoy cleaning the walls," read one of the writings.
In the hallway, a longer text stated: "Here, in this room, on these walls remains the energy of a Procrear without favoritism. The bet on a better future, the certainty that life can belong to everyone. And although favors must be repaid, dignity is not negotiable." In addition, slogans such as "Long live Perón" could also be seen, written in large letters across the entire wall.

During the nearly two years that the illegal occupant remained in the apartment, coexistence with the neighbors of the Estación Buenos Aires complex became increasingly conflictive. Complaints multiplied in the condominium's WhatsApp group, with repeated grievances over loud music, constant arguments, and calls to the police.
Neighbors warned about the habitual presence of police officers on the floor where the woman lived and expressed their exhaustion at the lack of response. "I have already gone three times to ask 3K to turn the music down. No one else hears it," protested one neighbor, while another admitted, "I have already shouted at them from the window, I am fed up with them. I am fed up with the noise."
Now, Mariela will use her vacation time to invest a large sum of money, fix her apartment, and carry out the final move, which will take place at the end of February or the beginning of March.
