Jack Doohan's future in Formula 1 is at a decisive moment. With his continuity at Alpine practically stalled, the Australian driver is considering joining Haas as a reserve driver for the 2026 season, according to the specialized portal Crash.
The situation of the son of the legendary Mick Doohan became complicated at the beginning of this year, when he was replaced by the Argentine Franco Colapinto after the first five races of the championship. His inconsistent performance at the start ended up opening the door for the young Williams driver, who quickly seized the opportunity.
Colapinto, despite the limitations of the single-seater, managed to stand out by outqualifying his teammate Pierre Gasly in four of the last five rounds. Although he hasn't scored points yet, his performances convinced the team and positioned him as a strong candidate to continue in 2026.
Meanwhile, Doohan was left behind even within his own team. The Estonian Paul Aron, Alpine's tester, made a good impression in his free practice participations and earned a place in the engineers' consideration.
