Rosario Central alert: Di María is leaving Benfica after the Club World Cup
After many rumors about his continuity, it was finally confirmed that Fideo will finish his second cycle with the Portuguese team after the World Cup
After several months of uncertainty about his future at Benfica, Ángel Di María already has his departure from the club defined. The Rosario native will not continue at the Portuguese institution once his participation in the Club World Cup is over, and he will become a free agent.
By the end of April, Portuguese media like A Bola were already anticipating that Di María's cycle at Benfica could close at the end of the season. Despite still being one of the team's key figures at 37 years old, the high cost of his contract and the lack of guarantees about his future role made his stay beyond June unfeasible.

Rui Costa, Benfica's sporting director, had stated that both he and Nicolás Otamendi would be called to discuss their respective contracts at the end of the current season. However, in the defender's case, a renewal is expected without major complications, and from Portugal, they assure that he will stay at least one more year.
For now, Di María has not decided whether he will continue in Europe or return to Argentina. This has caused growing excitement among Rosario Central fans, who dream of seeing the idol wear the club's jersey again. However, so far, there are no concrete advances or formal proposals, as the player's decision is recent.

What does seem unchangeable is that, if he decides to return to the country, his only destination would be the Canalla. Even so, considering his level and career, it is logical to expect that there will be no shortage of offers once he becomes a free agent in the market.
They are waiting for him in Rosario
Before Di María's decision was officially known, Ariel Holan, the current coach of Rosario Central, expressed his enthusiasm about a possible return of the experienced forward. He even emphasized that the club is doing "everything possible" to achieve his return.
"Any coach would love to have a player of his quality, but these are very personal decisions. This is already an attractive institution, and now it is organized and growing in many aspects that are not visible and are also important," the coach assured in statements to TyC Sports.
