In the middle of the countdown to the 2026 season of Formula 1 and with attention focused on the deep regulatory change that will mark a new era in the category,Alpine began running with its new single-seater. The French team brought the A526 out on track for the first time that Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly will use at the historic Silverstone circuit in England.
The activity became known through a video posted on social media by British driver Chris Smiley, champion of the United Kingdom Touring Car Championship in 2022, who shared images of the car lapping on the circuit. "First lap for the new Alpine F1 car", he wrote in an Instagram story, along with an image taken by Pete Jones, managing director of the Restart Racing team.
Although no official details about the test were released, it is presumed that it was a filming day or an installation test, intended to verify the correct functioning of the components before the first formal sessions. In the images, a light blue helmet and the number 10 could be seen, which suggests that Pierre Gasly might have been in charge of completing the first kilometers.
The A526 featured a livery similar to the one used by Alpine in 2025, a common strategy among teams to avoid leaks about the final design that will be used in the upcoming season. With this outing, Alpine became the fourth team to run with its 2026 car, following the tests carried out by Cadillac, Audi, and Racing Bulls.
Meanwhile, Colapinto also went out on track, although he used the A525. Together with his teammates, the Argentine driver took part in the private TPC (Testing of Previous Cars), an activity intended to re-familiarize drivers with the feeling of driving before they use the new cars.

Regarding the official launches, the models of Racing Bulls, Red Bull, Haas, and Audi, which will replace Sauber, have already been unveiled. This Thursday will be Mercedes's turn, while on Friday Ferrari and Alpine will officially reveal the design that they will use in the new championship.
The last cars will be presented before the official pre-season tests in Bahrain. After the private tests in Barcelona, scheduled between January 26 and 30, Williams will show its car on February 3, Cadillac will do so on the 8th and on the 9thit will be the turn of McLaren and Aston Martin.
